Five minutes with Austin White.

Austin takes sprayer modification from concept through to completion – here he gives us an overview of a typical working day at Bateman…

My role at Bateman is…
Design Engineer.

A typical day for me at Bateman involves:
Carrying out design modifications, producing concept designs and evolving them into a final solution and liaising with production to ensure changes are implemented correctly.

The most enjoyable aspect of my current role is…
The variation, some days I may be completely computer based and focussed on designing a new part/jig, some days I will be in the workshop helping assembly parts/jigs I have designed. I also like the fact that I am working on both current machines and the next generation.

I would say life at Bateman is…
Hard work, challenging but I feel my contribution is valued and it is rewarding seeing my hard work come to fruition.

Before I joined Bateman I was:
A production engineer at 3M and studying Electromechanical engineering at Aston University.

If I have time to myself I enjoy:
Competitive clay shooting and working on my car.

The best advice I have ever been given is:
Do or do not there is no try.
