Strong demand for new Bateman Sprayers at Cereals and the Royal Highland Show
New RB series generates significant interest at Cereals 2026
The 2026 show season got off to a flying start for R.J. Bateman Engineering with a highly successful appearance at Cereals, hosted this year at Diddly Squat Farm in Oxfordshire.
Despite more challenging weather on the second day, the event attracted an excellent turnout, particularly on day one, creating a busy and positive atmosphere across the site. Visitors to the Bateman stand included a healthy mix of existing customers, operators currently running competitor machines, and completely new prospects looking to learn more about the latest developments in self-propelled sprayer technology.
The level of interest generated throughout the event was reflected in a flurry of requests for demonstrations from farmers and contractors keen to see the machines working on their own farms.
Bateman showcases complete RB sprayer range in demonstration arena
A major highlight of this year’s event was our new RB30, RB50 and RB60 sprayers.
Displayed both statically on the stand and in the working demonstration arena, Bateman was the only manufacturer offering machines across all three tank-capacity classes within the demonstrations. This gave visitors a unique opportunity to compare different machine sizes while seeing the latest Bateman developments in action.
The breadth of the range attracted considerable attention from operators looking for solutions tailored to their specific farming businesses, whether replacing an existing machine, increasing capacity or investing in new spraying technology for the first time.
Why the new RB50 is capturing farmers’ attention
Among the new models, the RB50 emerged as one of the standout talking points throughout the event.
The concept of delivering a larger tank capacity on a much lighter machine resonated strongly with visitors. For many operators, the RB50 represents a logical progression, offering increased spraying capacity without stepping up to a machine that feels significantly larger or more complex to operate.
This balance between capacity, manoeuvrability and operator familiarity generated numerous conversations throughout the two-day event and has already translated into a growing number of demonstration requests.
Multiple control options designed around the operator
Another area attracting significant interest was Bateman’s newly developed control system, featuring an updated touchscreen interface, joystick and control panel.
The new system has been designed around operator preference, with controls mirrored across the display screen, joystick buttons and physical control panel. In addition, manual functions can be selected via switches located within the console.
This approach effectively provides four separate methods of controlling machine functions, allowing operators to choose the setup that feels most intuitive and comfortable for their working style.
The flexibility of the new system proved particularly popular with visitors seeking greater ease of use while maintaining full machine control.
Pulse width modulation demonstrations draw consistent crowds
Joining Bateman once again at Cereals was Brian Finstrom from Capstan Ag, who spent both days demonstrating the benefits of pulse width modulation (PWM) technology.
As in previous years, Brian’s PWM demonstrator attracted a steady flow of farmers eager to understand how the technology can improve application accuracy, spray consistency and operational flexibility.
The demonstrations provided visitors with a practical opportunity to see the technology first-hand and discuss how PWM can deliver benefits across a wide range of farming operations.
Growing demand for new sprayer technology
Overall, the response received at Cereals 2026 was exceptionally positive.
The event generated a substantial volume of enquiries and demonstration requests, but perhaps more importantly, it encouraged many operators to begin actively considering machine changes rather than simply replacing existing equipment on a like-for-like basis.
There is a noticeable energy around the Bateman range, driven by the combination of new machine developments, technological upgrades and increasing interest from both existing and prospective customers.
The occasion also carried additional significance as R.J. Bateman Engineering celebrates 50 years in business during 2026, marking five decades of designing and manufacturing specialist agricultural equipment.
From Cereals to Lincolnshire and Scotland
No sooner had the team packed away from Cereals than attention turned to further events across the country.
Bateman was proud to support approved partners Peacock & Binnington at the Lincolnshire Show and C T Scott at the Royal Highland Show, with representatives attending both events to support customers and discuss the latest product developments.
The new RB50 was once again on display and continued to receive a highly positive reception from visitors.
Across both events, discussions centred around how the latest Bateman machines and technologies can help farmers and contractors improve efficiency, productivity and spraying performance.
As at Cereals, the team received numerous enquiries and demonstration requests, with plans already underway to showcase the new 2026 machine package on farms throughout England and Scotland in the coming months.
